Jack Bashe lost his father while escaping the Germans in World War I, only to lose his mother when he was still a baby. His stepfather remarried, and now he was being raised by stepparents. His stepfather worked in a textile mill in Rockirock, Ga., while his stepmother kept the house and raised him.
While in high school, he defended a girl's honor and was kicked out of school because of the lies told about the incident. Forced to leave, he camped out along a mountain stream until the girl he defended saw him and invited him to stay with her because of the lies and because she had been kicked out of her parent's home and became a whore. She taught Jack all about sex. When one of her customers was killed accidentally, she skipped town leaving Jack to take the fall for the murder.
To escape jail, Jack joined the US Army and the new Army-Airforce, becoming a great pilot, impressing General Patton, and given a battle field commission rank of Captian. After a narrow escape over Italy, Jack was sent to the Pacific Ocean to train glider pilots. He was shot down by the Japanese and captured. He escaped from the Jap aircraft carrier using one of the Jap's planes and after an aerial fight between two Jap fighter planes, he landed next to an island where he meet an old HS School friend. She was on this island as a missionary and nursed Jack back to health. They became friends and then lovers. Jack helped her fight the Japanese on another island with the help of a cannibal tribe.
His girlfriend, Anna, was captured by the Japs and was to be placed in a brothel for Jap sailors when they came ashore to relax from the tremors of war. She escaped but was lost when the US Navy bombarded the island but Jack was rescued. Discharged and sent home, Jack returned to his hometown of Rockirock where he met a long-lost great-aunt on her death beath. She had left him enough money for him to go to college. He entered and joined the football program where he met his old enemy, the one who had lied about him in High School. Revenge is sweet.
